Description

Marmorbüste Fritz Reuter von Martin Wolff, um 1893. 49,0 x 50,0 x 30,0 cm; auf 15 cm hohen Marmorsockel; Gesamthöhe 64,0 cm.

Martin Wolff (1852-1919) war der einzige Sohn des Bildhauers Albert Wolff (1815-1892) aus Neustrelitz. Die von ihm 1880 geschaffene Marmorgruppe "Theseus findet die Waffen seines Vaters" war sein erster Erfolg und wurde von der Nationalgalerie Berlin angekauft (seit Kriegsende verschollen). Unter Mitarbeit von Wilhelm Wandschneider (1866-1942) aus Plau am See schuf er das am 29. Mai 1893 eingeweihte Bronzedenkmal für Fritz Reuter in Neubrandenburg.
